What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami
Haruki, one of Japan's most celebrated writers and a Harvard professor is exemplary of how far a dose of persistence and consistency can get us. When Haruki started running his body had been enduring approximately 60 cigarettes a day and his teeth and nails were yellow. A year later, Haruki no longer smoked and had ran solo Athens to Marathon. When he arrived in Marathon he hosed himself down at a petrol station and when the petrol pump attendant heard why he presented him with a bunch of flowers.
